Is there a term for watermarked images sliding across the screen as mental images? Like, the main character would be in focus and all, but say he's reading a book about someone, and the book's character slides across the screen..
Thanks

The all encompassing term: Montage.
Art school skills are very transferable, see?
The other all encompassing term: Composite.
Self-taught computer skills are very transferable, see? Just don't forget your uncle, travelling Matte. See, a childhood of Fraggles was not wasted....

Subliminal messages...
Although this maybe what you mean, I think it's illegal to broadcast anything which carries subliminal messages.
(I know this is definately related to Adverts, but not sure about films...)
Anyone else know about subliminal messages in films??

All I know about subliminal images in films is that legally they have to be at least a certain length (1/16 second or something). As for adverts, would it make them Blipverts? They've had 'em everywhere, Young Ones, Exorcist, Dark Star... although that doesn't sound like what you have planned, which sounds fine, nay, groovy. Composite sure sounds right.
cheers

Montage, huh? So would this be the correct usage of the term (for my storyboard for english class)
"Montage of Kurtz's image slides across the screen?"

To me that phrase implies multiple images, simply because most ppl are conditioned to think that a montage is stuff drawn from numerous other sources/media rather than just two (in your case foreground subject is montaged with subjects from the readers imagination)
Obviously this is an excercise in communications, but if you also have a visual then your phrase should be understood in that context.
